Basement Finishing & Remodeling in Wayne County, NY

Everything below grade
Why people finally call about the basement
Most basements in our area were never built to be lived in. Fieldstone walls, block foundations and a high water table near the lake all shape what can be done down there.
It smells musty
That smell is moisture. Finishing over it traps it behind drywall. We find where it’s coming from before we frame anything.
Water shows up in spring
Snowmelt and spring rain push water in through cracks and the floor joint. Drainage and a working sump come before carpet.
The kids need their own space
A rec room or bedroom downstairs is cheaper than expanding your home’s footprint, as long as egress and ceiling height work.
Someone needs a bedroom down there
A legal bedroom needs an egress window sized to code. We plan the window and the well with the rest of the job.
You want a bathroom downstairs
Below-grade bathrooms often need an ejector pump or a cut into the slab. We figure that out up front so the price is real.
An old farmhouse cellar
Low beams, stone walls and dirt in spots. Sometimes it can be finished, sometimes it should just be cleaned up and dried out. We’ll tell you which.
What to do first
Watch it after a heavy rain
Look for damp spots, puddles at the wall-floor joint and white crust on the block. Take photos.
Check the sump
Does it run? Where does it discharge? Is there a backup? This matters more than the paint color.
Measure the ceiling
Floor to the bottom of the joists and ducts. It tells us what’s possible.
Get one walkthrough
We check moisture, egress and mechanicals, then lay out the space and price it in one number.
We handle water and egress first. A finished basement that gets wet isn’t finished.

Water and egress first. Then the fun part.
Framing, insulation, moisture control, electrical, drywall, ceilings, flooring and trim. We deal with water and egress questions before anything else, so the finished space lasts.
We work around your existing mechanicals and keep the rest of the house clean while we build.

Pick what the space becomes
Rec & game rooms
Open space for a pool table, a TV wall or a kids’ play area, with lighting and outlets where you will actually use them.
Home theaters
Wiring, sound control and lighting planned before the drywall goes up.
Basement bathrooms
Full or half baths, with the drain and plumbing tie-in worked out up front.
Guest suites
Bedrooms with legal egress, closets and a comfortable feel.
Offices & gyms
Quiet, well-lit space with the outlets and flooring the job calls for.
Wet bars
Bar cabinets, counters, a small sink and a beverage fridge. The plumbing and drain are the hard part, and we handle them.

A bar that looks built in, because it is.
Cabinets, counters, wine storage, a small sink and a fridge. We tie in the plumbing and drain, which is usually the tricky part below grade.

Basement questions, answered
My basement gets wet in spring. Can it still be finished?
Often, yes, but the water gets handled first. That can mean grading, gutters, an interior drain, a sump or sealing cracks. We don’t frame over a wet wall.
Can I put a bedroom in my basement?
Yes, if it has a code-sized egress window and enough ceiling height. We plan the window and well as part of the job.
How much does it cost to finish a basement?
It depends on size, moisture work, bathrooms and finishes. You will know the number before we leave your driveway. Call (315) 754-9996.
Why choose TGM for basement remodeling?
In-house design with 3D renderings, our own crew, moisture handled first, and a lifetime craftsmanship warranty on the work.
Can you add a bathroom in my basement?
Usually, yes. We look at where the main drain sits and plan the plumbing tie-in before anything else.
Do you handle egress windows and permits?
Yes. Bedrooms need legal egress, and we pull permits and schedule inspections.
